Google continues to add more ways for brands to control how their businesses appear in search results, including business posts, curated product detail listings, and now, a new section for special offers, right within your Google listing. The ‘Offer’ post type has been around since the very start of Google Posts, but only now has one type of Post been given a preferential position in the crammed real estate of Google My Business profiles just like starburst free spins no deposit offers getting lights on a sea of iGaming offers. According to Google’s release statement, when viewed on a mobile device, any offer posts will appear right below the key business info, above even reviews. How to Add an Offer on Google My Business
It’s really easy to post an offer to Google My Business. While the new announcement or offer post suggests using the Google My Business app to post offers, you can do exactly the same on desktop devices.
- Log in to Google My Business
- Click ‘Posts’ in the left-hand column
- Click the ‘Offer’ tab in the popup
- Upload your image
- In ‘Offer details’ write some brief information about your offer, though try to do so in a way that makes the business personality memorable. (Remember that this could be the first thing a potential customer sees that’s actually written by the business!)
- In ‘Offer title’ write a promptly eye-catching title for your offer
- Add a Start Date and End Date for the offer (you can even add times of day if you want to get really specific)
- Add a Coupon Code (if applicable)
- Add the text of any terms and conditions applicable to the offer
Listings on Google My Business can only be constructed for businesses either that travel to visit customers where they are or have a physical location that customers can visit. Organizations, Brands, artists, and other online-only businesses aren’t eligible for Google My Business listings.
New posts will be active for 7 days, and they always appear before currently published posts that have yet to expire. Older posts don’t disappear after expiry; they are available on desktop by scrolling to the Posts section and clicking any active post or, View all, or View previous posts on Google and under the Posts navigation in the business profile on mobile.
This is the text that’s visible in the Knowledge Panel before a user clicks on the post. The number of characters that is displayed is dependent on if you choose to add a CTA button or not, so some words are likely to be cut off. Always review how a post looks once advertised, and go back and make changes if necessary.
These latest ‘social-like’ functions are great additions for businesses considering the fact that Google search still remains on top for driving traffic to your website.
