Check the Meeting Venue Before Presenting a Business Proposal

You have to prepare well before giving a business proposal to potential investors. You can’t set up a meeting if you are not prepared. Investors will now that you didn’t prepare well; it could adversely affect their final decision. Even if they have plans to invest in your business, they might change their minds.

These are several good reasons for checking a meeting venue before the business proposal is pitched. Be prepared and success will follow.

You want to double-check the equipment

You might need equipment to present a proposal to potential investors. It may require computers, projectors, sound system and many other tools to make a more all round presentation. You also need to know that your files are compatible with the computer that you’re going to use for the presentation. It might also help if your meeting room has a projector ceiling mount so that you can use it to present your slides. It will be easier if the projector is already at the meeting venue. If there are issues, you will have time to fix them before the meeting gets underway.

You want to practice first

You may already have practiced several times before the presentation proper. You will probably have edited your script many times to ensure that it’s perfect. Even so you’ll probably still have to undertake one last practice at the meeting venue. You need to feel confident; constant practice helps a lot. However, you don’t need to show that you already memorised your presentation since it will lose its sincerity, and you may end up appearing ‘robotic’ to your audience.

You need to know how it feels to be there

It’s one thing to practice in your bathroom. It might help, but it’s not the meeting venue. You need to know how it is to be there. You can practice in front of your colleagues; ask them to critique what you have to say. You can banish most of your nervous tension if you get know the venue looks and feels like.

You can make changes

You still have time to make the necessary changes with your presentation before the potential investors arrive. You want to polish everything so they have no reason to reject your proposal and plans. If you received comments from your colleagues, you could consider incorporating some or all of them in to your script. If the meeting room doesn’t seem conducive for this meeting, you can still change the setup. It also helps that you can replace any malfunctioning equipment prior to the meeting so that your presentation will run smoothly and be interruption free.

Again, even if you already prepared every detail of your business presentation, you can’t expect it to be perfect. Despite that, you still have to try your best to receive the approval of the potential investors.

You also need to prepare yourself if things don’t go as planned – have a ‘plan B’ in case something goes awry. It’s possible that even if you have some great ideas, potential investors will still turn you down and opt for another entrepreneur. Don’t lose hope. All you need do is find ways to improve your business plan or presentation, dust yourself down and go through the entire process again in front of new investors.
