Stacey Williams, Head of Business Development at anti food waste app, Gander, commenting on the announcement of the Tesco’s move to link Executive Director bonuses to halving food waste by 2025, said: “Gander welcomes the announcement of Tesco’s intention to link executive bonuses to slashing food waste, as the retailer looks to halve its food waste by 2025. We also back Tesco’s call for the introduction of mandatory food waste reporting by the government.
“This is a brave move in the fight against food waste by the UK’s largest supermarket and we hope that it sets a precedent for other retailers to consider how they can help meet the food waste target set by the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“If we all commit to small changes now, such as selling ‘imperfect’ products, developing and delivering new lines, reducing the cost of waste in the supply chain, and making sustainable technology available to customers, it will have a hugely positive impact.”
