One of his favourite projects has got to be working with clients who are gifting a special piece of art to a loved one.

“This is a really fun experience, a lot of thought goes into to buying art as a gift and the response when a person receives a piece of art they will love and cherish forever is a real high five moment!

“The other side of it is this, when you gift art, you are not only gifting something beautiful to be enjoyed, you are also gifting a real tangible asset that can go on to increase in value for many many years to come.

“A great example of this is Keith Haring, his work is exceptional, recognisable and stunning – undoubtedly transforming any wall space into a wow space! But aside from beauty, Keith Haring’s have more than doubled in price in the last 3 years! They are collectors pieces and highly sought after by those in the know. My clients, who have invested in this artist are now in the wonderful position of being able to trade their art, some of them investing in new artists, and some using the money to invest in other projects.”

At present, the Charles Gilmore Fine Art Gallery is hosting an exclusive exhibition of the largest collection of work in Ireland by the global phenomenon, Mr Brainwash. Charles goes on to say;

“We’re delighted to have this collection in our gallery just in time for Christmas and I believe that this impressive artist is absolutely an investment for the future or an amazing family heirloom to be cherished for generations to come.

“His work is chaotic, fun, lively, colourful and very reflective of the times we are living in – people are seeking happiness and joy and their art and Mr Brainwash certainly delivers all that and more. His mantra that ‘Life is Beautiful’ is one we all need reminded of sometimes.”

Alongside Mr Brainwash and Keith Haring hang other colourful artists such as Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst but Charles says it’s not all pop art, there’s still a place in our hearts, and our homes, for more traditional art;

“Beautiful landscapes and still life art are still very prevalent amongst art lovers – the exquisite works of local artists such as Belfast born Martin Mooney really capture the beauty of our country while Argentinian born, English painter with strong Irish connections, Anthony Murphy gives us wonderful quirky landscapes that capture the magic of the world around him.”

At the end of the day, art is a personal choice but gifting the right piece of art and not only bringing joy and happiness but also a real tangible asset that will increase in value over the years is not just an amazing gift but a really smart move!
