Think Green this Christmas with Vincent’s

Vincent’s Shops across Northern Ireland are participating in the SVP Christmas Window Display Competition and it’s your last chance to vote on Facebook to help them win!

Based on the theme of sustainability and environmental awareness, the competition aims to raise awareness of the impact of our buying habits as gone are the days of “fast fashion” and Vincent’s shops are this year celebrating the festive season by providing good quality used and unused products to its local communities with sustainability at the forefront.

Anne Crossan, Regional Retail Services Manager for SVP, said: “This is a fun competition with a serious message. We want to encourage people to visit our Vincent’s shops before hitting the high street to admire the Christmas window displays which have been designed by our shop staff and volunteers using only products which have been donated. And then we hope that they’ll be suitably impressed by what they see and vote for their favourites on Facebook.

“Each shop is being encouraged to show creativity and imagination in their display using upcycled items or providing alternative uses for everyday items we would usually find within our shops. I’m looking forward to visiting the shops and admiring the displays myself and I wish everyone participating the best of luck in the competition.”

The competition voting has two elements. Passers by and shoppers are encouraged to vote for their favourite on Facebook until 4.00pm on Thursday 12 December and then judges will vote for their favourite based on the entry criteria.

Vincent’s charity shops are a very important aspect of the service SVP provides. Not only do they provide people with new and lightly worn items at affordable prices, they also provide an income source for the Society, which is recycled directly back into the community.

The charity shops are managed by a small number of professionals who are assisted by a large number of volunteers. The profits generated from the charity shops, some of which also supply furniture, are recycled into local Conferences around Northern Ireland to support those in need.
