Budget Energy household customers across Northern Ireland will begin receiving a one-off £63 discount on their electricity from next week.
The support is part of a government-funded initiative The Household Electricity Discount Scheme, to assist households with rising energy costs, which is being rolled out generally from Tuesday October 6.
The discount will be automatically applied and it will be available to all households regardless of their energy usage or household income.
For bill-pay customers, the £63 reduction will be automatically applied to their next bill. For keypad customers, the discount will be provided as additional credit on their next top-up from Tuesday October 6.
Ken O’Byrne, Managing Director, Budget Energy, welcomed the implementation of the scheme saying it delivered timely support to households, as temperatures start to fall and energy use increases.
He said: “We’re delighted that this support is being implemented from next week”.
“At a time when many families continue to feel pressure from the cost of living, this payment will provide welcome assistance.
“The process is straightforward, with the payment automatically applied, meaning customers do not need to contact us or complete any application forms.”
The Household Electricity Discount Scheme is planned to continue in 2027 and 2028, with the amount for those years yet to be confirmed. Full details on the scheme are available on via the Department for the Economy
