Marking almost one year in partnership with NOW Group, an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to creating inclusive employment opportunities, local company, Terex has renewed its commitment to promoting diversity across its sites in 2024.
Terex, a global leader in manufacturing and material processing equipment, has fostered a workplace that values neurodiversity and supports individuals with learning difficulties and autism via a number of training sessions and fundraising initiatives, with last year’s activities raising in excess of £11,500 for NOW Group.
One of the key initiatives within this partnership is the implementation of the JAM Card programme, with NOW Group providing comprehensive training across various levels within the organisation, resulting in Terex becoming a JAM Card friendly organisation. Originating from the card designed by participants requesting ‘Just A Minute’, the training spans across senior managers to front facing staff, designed to celebrate and value neurodiversity, disability and communication barriers within the workforce.
Another main priority for Terex was to identify and create job opportunities across all six of its sites in Ireland, which has proved a great success so far with the first recruit celebrating his one-year anniversary in employment recently. Working together, NOW Group and Terex are aiming to foster an environment where individuals from all abilities can thrive and contribute to the success of the workplace.
Additionally, the partnership with NOW Group played a key role in a Chamber of Commerce submission for Manufacturer of the Year Award, which was won by Terex in October 2023.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Terex, a company that shares our values and commitment to creating inclusive and diverse workplaces,” comments Niamh Thomas, Regional Manager at the NOW Group. “This partnership goes beyond business; it is about building a community that values and respects the unique contributions of every individual. Together, we are not only providing essential training but also collaborating on initiatives that make a real difference, both within the organisation and in the wider community.”
Lindsay Colton, Digital Transformation Manager at Terex, adds, “We were very proud to have been named the first strategic partner in the manufacturing sector across Ireland and are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with the NOW Group in 2024.
“At Terex, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce is essential for our success, and as a major local employer, Terex is deeply committed to excellence and inclusivity which is firmly embedded within our business. By working together, we aim to set a benchmark for creating workplaces that are not only successful but also truly inclusive and reflective of the diverse world we live in.
“In 2023, we became a JAM Card friendly organisation and will continue to provide employment opportunities to those living with hidden disabilities, which we hope to build on throughout the coming years.”
The partnership will build on NOW Group’s successful employment programme, which in 2023 has already seen over 200 participants helped into paid employment and over 1,000 participants achieve qualifications.
