KP re-opens the Bank of McCoys in NI

Northern Ireland snack lovers could enjoy a seriously tasty payday over the next few months as KP Snacks re-opens its popular Bank of McCoy’s – offering local consumers and retailers an opportunity to make a crisp cash withdrawal from the bank’s £125,000 prize vault.

As the cost of living continues to soar, the on-pack campaign, which goes live today (January 26), gives fans of McCoy’s, the UK’s number one ridged crisp, a chance to win instant cash prizes of up to £1,000 from the Bank’s £100,000 vault or free crisps.

Local retailers can also cash in, with a dedicated £25,000 prize fund offering them the opportunity to win up to £1,000 in cash or free stock.

Running across McCoy’s popular Price-Marked Packs (PMP) and Grab Bag formats from now until April 6, shoppers can check their balance very simply by purchasing a promotional pack of McCoy’s and following the on-pack instructions to discover if they’ve won.

Ricky Watts, Business Account Manager (NI) for McCoy’s parent company KP Snacks, reckons there’s never been a better time to bring back a giveaway that puts money straight into people’s pockets.

“We could all do with a little cash boost in these challenging economic times, so we are delighted to re-open the Bank of McCoy’s with a new on-pack promotion that could benefit NI shoppers AND retailers where it matters most… in their pockets!” said Ricky.

“The Bank of McCoy’s is one of our most popular campaigns, designed to reward loyalty – not with points or vouchers but with real money. With £125,000 up for grabs, we’re offering both consumers and retailers a proper reward for choosing McCoy’s – and having a bit of fun along the way.

“We’re giving NI shoppers the chance to unlock a £100,000 prize vault – with instant cash prizes of up to £1,000 available on-pack – while local retailers can also cash in with a separate £25,000 prize vault dedicated just for them,” he added.

“Lots of free stock and packs of McCoy’s crisps are also up for grabs in the promotion which runs from now until April 6, 2026.”

One thing that retailers can bank on is that the campaign will again be supported by eye-catching on-pack designs, in-store POS and digital activity, ensuring McCoy’s stays front of mind — and in shopping baskets — across the province.

Ricky Watts is encouraging retailers to deposit their energy and resources into the campaign for a maximum return on investment.

“Anything that brings customers through the door and gives them a chance to win cash is a winner in our book,” he said.

McCoy’s already sells more packs per head in Northern Ireland than in the rest of the UK and is still growing with NI sales increasing by 5 per cent* in 2025 – but there will definitely be a higher rate of interest when there’s money up for grabs, with shoppers likely to grab a packet, or two, extra!

“It’s safe to say that customers and retailers love a winning combination, so our Bank of McCoy’s campaign is designed to both strengthen consumer engagement AND drive retailer sales – giving them the chance to snack AND stack their cash,” he added.

Worth £199m in the UK and growing at +5%**, the McCoy’s portfolio continues to expand with the introduction in 2026 of a brand new flavour McCoy’s Salted, reflecting the fact that 20% of bagged snack sales are now from ‘salted’ flavours***.

Last year saw the successful launch McCoy’s Hot & Spicy in Northern Ireland in response to the growing demand for spicy foods – with more than 50% of UK consumers saying they love it****.

McCoy’s Hot & Spicy is now firmly established as a key flavour in McCoy’s core range and will feature the Bank of McCoy’s promotion on-pack – as will new McCoy’s Salted.
