ASG & Partners is inspiring the next generation of budding marketers by opening its doors to students from Regent House Grammar School in Newtownards.
As part of The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising’s largest Open Day, ‘ Advertising Unlocked’, ASG & Partners introduced students to the agency world to inspire them to pursue a career in the advertising industry.
On 9thth November, Regent House pupils spent a full day at the agency where the ASG team unlocked the secrets behind delivering award-winning campaigns.
ASG & Partners
For the past 40 years, ASG & Partners have been responsible for developing creative solutions for a diverse range of local, national, and international clients in the public and private sectors, so they are well-placed to share their knowledge and expertise.
On the day, pupils were mentored by colleagues spanning a range of disciplines, including Valerie Ludlow (Strategy & Research), Karen Casey (Project Management), Kathryn Brooker (Graphic Design), Sebastian McBrien (PR & Event Planning), Sean McCrudden (Digital & Social Media) and Keeva Rooney (Media Planning & Buying). The team shared their career journeys and outlined how each department contributes to the marketing mix when responding to a client brief.
Valerie Ludlow, CEO and Chief Strategist at ASG & Partners, commented: “We are delighted to be taking part this year. I hope our efforts encourage other local schools and agencies to sign-up for next year’s “Advertising Unlocked” so that we can grow our local talent pool. It is the perfect way to enable those considering a career in the industry to get ‘hands-on’ experience working in an agency environment and dispel some of the myths about who is the ‘right’ type of person for this career path.”
Michael Carville, Headmaster of Regent House Grammar School, said: “This scheme is very exciting for our pupils, and we are thrilled to participate in it. By offering this immersive learning style, our students will enjoy an authentic marketing experience that can benefit their future career planning decisions.”
Caroline McNiece, Head of Careers at Regent House Grammar School stated “Our pupils are keen to participate in creative industries where they can enhance their team building and problem solving skills. Experiencing a day in an advertising firm affords them the opportunity to witness and observe the wide ranging skill set provided by the industry. We are delighted to be the school representing Northern Ireland in this nationwide event”.
Since the launch of Adverting Unlocked, advertising and media agencies across the UK have welcomed over 5,000 students through their doors. This year marks the program’s return for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
