M&S (and Colin the Caterpillar™) team up with Macmillan Cancer Support

It’s September and Colin the Caterpillar™ is adorned in white and green which can only mean one thing…it’s time for Macmillan Cancer Support’s Coffee Morning.

M&S is proudly partnering with Macmillan Cancer Support as headline sponsor of its much-loved flagship fundraiser for the 14th year – with proceeds of the Macmillan Colin the Caterpillar™ cakes and selected M&S products, donated to the leading cancer charity.

The 13th year of the M&S and Macmillan partnership raised OVER £1 MILLION for the charity last September (£1.65m to be exact 😉). Plus, the money raised from product donations, Sparks donations and loose change donations at the tills during the 13th year, took M&S’ fundraising total to a staggering £25million – the most ever raised by a Macmillan corporate partner – money spent on providing the life-changing support so vital to people living with cancer.

This year M&S teams all over the country are hoping to make this the most MAGIC year yet, with the help of their coffee & cake-loving customers, with thousands of big and little Macmillan Colin’s ready to be snapped up during September 🐛.

To mark the 14th year of the M&S and Macmillan Cancer Support partnership for Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, best of friends, presenter, singer and actress, Denise Van Outen and singer Duncan James have collaborated on a new single – “That’s What Friends Are For”. To highlight the importance of friendship especially during times of adversity. All profits from the song will be given to Macmillan Cancer Support.

As the headlining partner of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning this September M&S will donate 5p from every cup of coffee and slice of cake, and 10% of every Afternoon Tea enjoyed in the M&S Café, as well as 10% of selected items in the Foodhall including the Macmillan Cancer Support Colin the Caterpillar™ cake.

Denise Van Outen said; “For anyone who has a family member diagnosed with cancer, it completely floors you. I lost my Grandad in 1995, at an age when I wanted to be the life and soul of the party. But it was so difficult to be that person, knowing that my Grandad was going to pass away. Then ten years later I lost my Nan, eight months after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Macmillan didn’t just care for my Nan and Grandad; they cared for the whole family. I wasn’t scared and it was all because of Macmillan.  The nurses became like family to us and I’m not sure what we would’ve done without them, and that’s why Coffee Morning and supporting Macmillan means so much to me.”
