firmus energy isn’t clowning around with Summer Camp support

Local natural gas supplier firmus energy – in partnership with ‘In Your Space Circus’ – is offering school children in the Derry-Londonderry area the chance to be part of a summer camp with a real difference.

Open to kids aged 9 and above, the 5-day Circus Summer Camp gives participants the opportunity to experience popular spectacles, from juggling and hula hoops to acrobatics and diabolo. They can also try to master walking the tightwire and learn the skills required to ride a unicycle – plus lots, lots more.

Overseen by experienced and trained performers, the workshops not only keep children active, they also help to develop their resilience and creativity in an environment that is fun, safe and supportive.

Barry Cassidy – an Energy Advisor at firmus energy – said: “This is the latest community initiative in Derry-Londonderry firmus energy has come on board to sponsor in recent weeks and it gives the company immense pleasure to be in the position to give something back as a way of saying thank you.

“As well as being educational for children, what really stood out for firmus energy about In Your Space Circus is the fun factor. When it came to choosing a charity to team up with over the school holidays it really caught the imagination of staff – and we are sure it will appeal to lots of kids, too,” he added.

With assistance from firmus energy, the main supplier of natural gas throughout Northern Ireland, the original cost of £110 per person has been reduced to £50 – the equivalent to just £10 per day.

Taking place from Monday, July 31st to Friday, August 4th, and again from Monday, August 7th to Friday, August 11th, the two Circus Summer Camps are based in the city’s Great James Street area.

Welcoming the funding from firmus energy, In Your Space Circus Company Director Cath McBride said: “We are incredibly grateful to firmus energy for offering this support towards our Summer Camps.

“The funding climate is extremely challenging at the moment, so it is fantastic to see firmus energy coming on board to support excellent work, which is happening in the community, with the aspiration of making life better for local people.

“The support has enabled us to significantly reduce the cost of the summer camp, making it more accessible to those facing disadvantage and challenging financial circumstances. The weeks will offer something completely unique combining healthy activity with creative and fun learning,” added Cath.
