Christmas planning in full swing for M&S Christmas Food

Food Shoppers across the nation are getting in the festive spirit, from shoppers going wild for small, affordable gifts like our gorgeous range of light-up tins containing biscuit delights, truffles, and hot chocolate, to getting their freezers stocked up in advance with party food and ordering their festive feasts early on Christmas Food To Order online.

Our research shows that customers have been excited for Christmas for months. In fact, 8 out of 10 admit to feeling the same, if not MORE, excited for the festive season than last year. *

Not only are customers buying and planning for others, but they’re also treating themselves with Christmassy snacks from our Food on the Move range, and devouring turkey dishes from our Café menu in their thousands.

The Christmas countdown is well and truly on!

Visits to M&S’ Christmas Food to Order site have been full of festive cheer as customers look to M&S Food to bring the magic to their Christmas feasts.

Demand has been high for larger-sized centrepieces and desserts, hinting that customers are expecting more people around the dinner table this Christmas (or just fancy extra leftovers this year!)

This year’s most popular mains already include our British Outdoor Bred Sugar Baked Gammon and our British Outdoor Bred Ultimate Pork Crackling Joint, which serve between 6-8 people. And the most desired desserts so far include this Profiterole Dessert and Christmas Jumper Colin the Caterpillar™.

Turkey is well and truly on the menu at M&S Cafés up and down the country.

In the first week, customers already gobbled up over 50,000 dishes with turkey. Favourites include the returning hero, Turkey & Ham Hock Toastie which is up 45% YOY, also with new addition of the Turkey Gravy Dipper, and our ‘smashing’ Turkey Pot Pie Soup with all-butter puff pastry lid.

This season’s sweet treats are also going down a storm in the Café with sales up over 30% on this time last year – with Mince Pies, Chocolate Yule Logs and Christmas Colin the Caterpillar™ cakes being snapped up in their tens of thousands!

Those grabbing their lunch on the run are LOVING the M&S’ festive Food on the Move range, which has transformed the fridges into a Christmassy wonderland.

Demand for a festive “bit on the side” has been HUGE as customers can’t resist the temptation of adding something a little Christmassy to their lunch. Sales of seasonal sides shot up a 50% YOY after only five days in the fridges with our Ambient Snacking Range of Trio of Treats, Merry Munch Bags and Christmas Colin the Caterpillar stealing the show! M&S’ Gingerbread Milkshake (£1.70) has been the star of the show so far, up a staggering 52% on last year, with the Turkey, Bacon & Pork Sausage Roll (£2.50) and Pigs in Blankets Crisps (£1) hot on its heels.

For those going for a full-blown Christmas sarnie lunch, the Turkey Feast (£3.90) and 12-layered Christmas Club (£4.50) sandwiches are already firm favourites again this year.

5% of sales from each item sold in our seasonal Food on the Move menu will be donated to Shelter.

With less than six weeks of festive feasting to go until the big day, and many more days of buffets, leftovers, brunches and parties after that, M&S Food has everything you need to add some magic and lots of sparkle to your festive season – whether you’re getting ahead early, or taking your time and enjoying each moment 🎄
