Four generations of Audi RS4. The different technologies that create the same feeling

The very first steps into the mass production of average-sized sports cars made by Audi started in 1999 when Audi RS4 was presented. The first generation of Audi RS4 B5 was only available in the body type of wagon, which made it a more versatile choice. Compared to a regular Audi A4, the body of the RS4 was developed with a wider chassis and much better aerodynamic features. Innovative engineering solutions also helped to make this car safer in different driving conditions. For example, with the help of original high-performance brakes, 50 meters was more than enough for a car to stop from a speed of 110 km/h.

Recurrence after the break

In 2001 the Audi A4 B6 was established, but this time, unfortunately, the manufacturer decided not to release the RS model on the same body. The production of RS4 was renewed only in 2006 with a body of A4 B7. Unlike the Audi RS4 B5, the RS4 B7 model was also available in sedan, cabriolet, and wagon versions. Like a previous model, the wagon versions officially were named with the additional word “Avant”.

Audi RS sports cars were always valued for their excellent safety features and the RS4 B7 wasn’t an exception. The manufacturer wanted the RS4 to be fast and powerful, but also a safe choice. This is why Audi redesigned a lot of different parts and made them more durable. This solution significantly improved the car’s structural rigidity, which is crucial in case of an accident. This only proves that original car parts play an extremely important role in car safety. Click here to learn more about genuine auto parts.

Solutions that provide more opportunities

The very last Audi RS4 B7 models left the factory in 2008 and the production of RS4 sports cars was temporarily suspended until 2012 when Audi RS4 B8 appeared. This time almost every single part of the car was improved. Together with enhanced performance features, the design of a car also has been adjusted according to the changing design perception in the whole car market. The sharp body lines were returned not only to chase the standards of a modern design but to maintain the aerodynamic features as well. The performance of the Audi RS4 B8 was also upgraded by installing a countless number of different electronic systems, which helped make this car to become more stable on diverse surfaces.

The latest Audi RS4 B9 was unveiled in 2017, but production started only a year later. This car model is unique in the perspective of its stunning design, tremendous power, and wide functionality without any doubts. The main improvements in developing the RS4 B9 were made in order to make this sports car more efficient. It means that the main goal was not to provide more power but to increase the torque by reducing fuel consumption at the same time. The technological development of the Audi RS4 can be easily noticed by taking a look at some numbers. For example, the RS4 B5 accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the RS4 B9 can reach the same speed in just 3.4 seconds.
