Belfast’s Culture Night is set to pack a punch in the Linen Quarter, as audiences take a ringside seat for the thrills, drama and spectacle of professional wrestling in the heart of the city. Returning to Culture Night following their popular appearance at previous festivals, Belfast-based pro wrestling company Titanic Wrestling will bring the action to Belfast Grand Central Station as part of the annual festival, which returns on Friday 18 September from 4pm to 10pm.

The wrestling ring is set to be a highlight of the evening, captivating commuters as they step off the platform and find themselves ringside for a high-energy wrestling spectacle. With a new match every 30 minutes, there will be no shortage of action as the station is transformed into an arena of drama, athleticism and entertainment throughout the night. Visitors will even have the opportunity create their very own wrestling mask and championship belt with the Wheelworks Arts Kayfabe Cart in Saltwater Square.

The sport is about much more than what happens inside the ring; it’s about the atmosphere, the characters and the audience involvement, whether that’s booing the bad guys or cheering on the heroes.”

The event is one of more than 200 free cultural and arts events taking place across Belfast, as this year’s Culture Night encourages audiences to explore the city while celebrating the diversity, innovation and creativity of Belfast’s cultural sector. The Linen Quarter will be at the heart of the celebrations, hosting more than twenty free events throughout the evening.

Adding to the programme, HALT will transform into a superhero HQ as Linen Quarter BID joins forces with The Comic Book Guys for a celebration of Belfast’s culture through the world of comics. Visitors can explore a special exhibition showcasing Belfast reimagined in comic book style, pick up free comic books, meet roaming characters and enjoy themed food and drink specials.

The Linen Quarter will also host pétanque tasters at Blackstaff Square, close-up magic and comic book Comic Book Caricatures at HALT, and a ballet spectacle by High Points Youth Ballet on Alfred Street, as well as an array of other performances and cultural experiences throughout the evening.

The Linen Quarter has undergone significant development in recent years, with the £1.4 billion Weavers Cross investment and the opening of Belfast’s Grand Central Station reshaping the district. The Linen Quarter BID continues to invest in the area’s infrastructure, environment and events programme to further enhance the area as a dynamic part of the city for local businesses, residents and visitors.
