Linen Quarter Lunchtimes Come Alive as Flaxx Summer Programme Returns

The Linen Quarter BID is set to bring even more life to Belfast city centre this summer with the return of its popular Flaxx Summer Animation Programme, which kicked off on Wednesday 22 July with free Ice-cream and a performance from Rock Choir, and will see the social space in Brunswick Street energised with entertainment throughout weekday lunchtimes in July and August.

The programme will create a vibrant atmosphere for Linen Quarter workers, residents and visitors alike, with a packed schedule of family-friendly entertainment, live performances and interactive activities.

This year’s programme includes everything from giant games, petting zoos and live music to circus performances, dance performances and a book club. The events will provide an opportunity for office workers to enjoy lunch outside while encouraging visitors to enjoy Blackstaff Square’s cafés, restaurants, and venues, including Sweet Afton, Shed Bistro, The Dep and Fibber Magees, helping to support local businesses in the district. The programme also coincides with the Belfast Fleadh, and musicians are being encouraged to make use of the Flaxx Stage throughout the week, so expect some impromptu summer sessions.

The Programme is all about bringing excitement to Linen Quarter workers while driving footfall to support the businesses that make up the district. We’re particularly excited that this year’s programme coincides with the Belfast Fleadh, and the opportunity the Flaxx Stage presents for impromptu pop-up performances, ensuring the Linen Quarter plays a central role in the city’s wider Fleadh celebrations.”
