The creative spirit and community pride of Newcastle have taken centre stage with Vincent’s winning first place in the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Competition.
Vincent’s scarecrow captured the essence of autumn and the judges’ hearts to secure the coveted top spot, with the Chamber stating that the creativity and effort on display around the town as being ‘fantastic’.
The winning creation, whilst some might say was both creepy and clever, was designed and brought to life by one of the store’s talented sales assistants. The scarecrow has become a cheerful talking point for customers and passers-by alike, greeting visitors with a spooky charm at the store’s entrance.
Anne McLarnon, Chair of Vincent’s Regional Retail Committee, expressed her delight at the news. Anne said: “We are absolutely thrilled that our Newcastle Vincent’s store has won first place in the Chamber of Commerce Scarecrow Competition! This achievement reflects the creativity, local engagement, community spirit and teamwork that define our wonderful staff and volunteers. The scarecrow competition was such a fun and imaginative project for this autumn season and it’s great to see that effort recognised by the wider community. I’m so proud of the team, especially our sales assistant who came up with this brilliant design. The scarecrows have really brought a touch of personality and warmth to the town.
“This kind of initiative really shows what makes Newcastle special. We’re so grateful to the Chamber for organising such a positive and collaborative event.”
Vincent’s Newcastle is one of 27 St Vincent de Paul shops in the Northern Region.
