Walking 100 miles to raise awareness of the work of Prostrate Cancer Research UK

Business First Online editor Gavin Walker is undertaking the Walk One Hundred Miles in May Challenge on behalf of charity Prostrate Cancer Research UK.

Gavin says, “This is an important campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of Prostrate Cancer and encourage more men to take time to consult their GP should they have any concerns about symptoms that might suggest they have the disease.

“We’re not too good when it comes to looking after our health, and this horrible disease can be successfully tackled if caught early enough. So this campaign is to raise awareness of what the disease is about, and how to help protect ourselves against it.”

Mount Stewart, Newtownards

Today’s walk to help highlight the work of Prostate Cancer UK and the Walk 100 Miles for Prostate Cancer Research May 2025 challenge took me (accompanied by Margaret Walker) around Mount Stewart for a five mile trot. Added to yesterday’s couple of miles from a lazy Sunday, we’ve now completed 27 miles.

If you see me out and about in the T-Shirt, give me a wave.
