Hughes Insurance suppoprts Cash for Kids this Christmas

Hughes Insurance is supporting the local community this Christmas season by awarding Cash For Kids £1,000 to support its impactful Mission Christmas initiative. The funding will help ensure the organisation can continue its valuable  work, aimed at ensuring no child wakes up without a gift this festive season. Alongside this donation, over 24 Hughes Insurance employees actively volunteered their time to support the campaign, assisting with tasks such as receiving deliveries, sorting gifts by age and gender, packing presents, and loading collections.

Cash For Kids was nominated through the local company’s Community Fund initiative, which focuses on charities and organisations that aim to create lasting and positive change in the community. Cash For Kids is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and young people, and its Mission Christmas campaign ensures that children living in poverty receive gifts they would otherwise not be able to afford. The charity works with front-line organisations such as social services and schools to identify families in need, and Hughes Insurance is proud to contribute to this effort.

Hughes Insurance’s Community Fund is part of the company’s Action for Impact Strategy – an initiative dedicated to help the company make a genuine contribution to society and the environment in Northern Ireland.

In 2024, the local company allocated 12,000 to support worthwhile causes and Hughes Insurance employees are encouraged to nominate initiatives that impact the communities they live in.  The nominations are reviewed by a committee of employees and worthy causes are awarded support.

Sarah Balmforth, Director of Human Resources at Hughes Insurance, said, “At Hughes Insurance, we believe in the power of community and the importance of creating connections that make people feel valued, both within our workplace and beyond. Through the Community Fund, we empower our staff to support causes close to their hearts, fostering meaningful change where it’s needed most. As part of our commitment, each employee is given two volunteering days a year, with previous activities including tree planting with TCV and a Charity Shop Challenge with Cancer Focus.

“It’s inspiring to see the tangible difference our contributions can make, especially during the Christmas season. We recognise that this time of year can be challenging for many, and we are committed to supporting those in need. That’s why our staff have chosen to donate and volunteer for Cash for Kids this December.”

Emma Haughian, Marketing Manager at Hughes Insurance, said, “It’s incredibly rewarding to see our staff engage with this initiative. By sharing stories about the organisations that matter most to them, they help guide where our funding is allocated. Whether it’s providing new kits and equipment or supporting environmental causes, the Community Fund empowers our team to make a meaningful difference within our community — something that lies at the very core of Hughes Insurance.”
