ASM Chartered Accountants, has delivered substantial revenue growth over the past 2 years, added 40 new specialist staff and has ambitious growth plans which will lead to the recruitment 30 staff over the next three years within its Belfast office. The recent and projected expansion prompted a review of its business infrastructure which includes an office move from Rosemary Street to the historic former Linen Factory at Glendinning House on Murray Street.
The Directors at ASM Chartered Accountants, Caroline Keenan, Michael Williamson, Stephen Burns, Brian Clerkin, Michael Nixon, Nicola Niblock and Christine Hagan.
The recent growth at the Belfast office is due to increased client demand and new contract wins combined with recent mergers including in 2016, the Belfast based practice Crawford Sedgwick. The new offices are housed in an architecturally-stunning former Linen Factory which was completely refurbished in late 2018 to deliver a bright, spacious and modern working environment. The move also prompted a complete review and subsequent upgrading of its IT and client interface systems and processes.
Launched in 1995, ASM has grown rapidly and today stands as one of the largest accounting and management consultancy firms in Ireland with a 200-strong team at offices in Belfast, Dublin, Dundalk, Dungannon, Magherafelt and Newry.
ASM’s all-island presence is unrivalled in terms of the number of offices and locally based staff. Its client portfolio spans small, owner-managed and family businesses to large public bodies and corporates across Ireland, the UK and internationally.
ASM Director Brian Clerkin said: “We are delighted to welcome clients old and new to our inspiring new premises in Belfast.
“We have been growing steadily over the past decade and quite dramatically more recently, with our staff numbers growing materially in the last 24 months alone. Our former site on Rosemary Street served us well, but we simply outgrew it. When the opportunity arose to move to newly refurbished offices at the top of Glendinning House, we knew we had found our new home.
“We have always aimed to and we are proud to have built a reputation for professionalism, excellence, expertise and dedicated customer relations and as such we are now attracting more business locally and internationally. Our team of accountancy experts across the island is increasing rapidly to service this growing demand. We specialise in a range of financial disciplines including corporate finance, audit and accounting, internal audit, consultancy services, taxation, hotels, tourism and leisure, insolvency and forensic accounting.
“We needed the right premises to reflect our brand and future vision. Glendinning House offered a practical but inspiring place to work and to conduct business. Despite the benefits and efficiency of electronic communications we still believe that face to face contact with our clients is of paramount importance and we set out to ensure that our new offices provide a high quality environment for those clients and for our staff ” he continued.
“The character of the building conveys our strength, confidence and firm foundations, while the open-plan layout of the refurbished interior speaks to our progressive and collaborative ethos. Communication and teamwork are at the heart of our business, and this new workspace reflects this.”
Caroline Keenan, ASM Tax Director, said: “We are delighted with our new premises and firmly believe this move is positive for both our clients and staff.
“This major investment indicates our confidence in the future of the company and sends a clear message to our staff that their hard work is valued, that we have a very bright future and they will have exceptional opportunities and that their wellbeing and comfort is important to us. It will also help us attract new talent inspired to work in a forward-facing company that respects and embraces our city’s rich industrial history and business heritage.”
“In the last century, this building was home to captains of industry and a dedicated workforce that helped put Belfast firmly on the world stage in terms of business. Our ambition is to do the same in the 21st century, so Glendinning House is a highly-appropriate base for ASM in the city,” she concluded.
