The business of golf – International Women’s Golf Day

The power of golf in building professional networks has been discovered first-hand by award-winning businesswoman, Angela Bennett from Diamond Systems, Belfast. In the run-up to International Women’s Golf Day the joint MD of Diamond Systems – a second generation market leader in electronic fire and security solutions – set up her own networking group, centred around learning the basics of golf.

“A small group of us reckoned it was about time we learned some of the basics of golf so that we could start to combine business networking with 18 holes around our local course at Dunmurry Golf Club.

“We agreed a number of lessons with the Dunmurry Golf Professional over a period of weeks. Not only was it terrific to be able to learn something about the game, but we also built up solid business relationships that will be of benefit to us as individuals and to our companies.

“International Women’s Golf Day was something of a catalyst for us and we are planning to organise a number of a Ladies Business Networking Golf Events over the course of the next year.”

Angela Bennett won Director of the Year (Family Business) and Director of the Year (Small to Medium Business) at this year’s Institute of Directors, Director of the Year awards.
