Lumen Financial Planning approved as Accredited Financial Planning firm

| October 5, 2011

Lurgan-based, Lumen Financial Planning Ltd, is one of the first firms in Northern Ireland to be approved by The Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) as an Accredited Financial Planning FirmTM.

Nick Cann, CEO of the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP), presents Jason Holmes, managing director of Lumen Ltd with an IFP accreditation certificate. The local company is one of the first in Northern Ireland to be approved by the IFP as an Accredited Financial Planning FirmTM.

This accreditation is only awarded to firms which the IFP, the professional body for financial planners in the UK and an FSA Accredited Body, has assessed as demonstrating the highest professional standards of financial planning service and advice to its clients.

Lumen Financial Planning is owned by Jason Holmes, a Certified Financial Planner professional (CFPCM). The company has built up a solid base of business clients across the province. Jason Holmes, managing director of Lumen, commented: “We are delighted to have achieved this powerful recognition of our commitment to professionalism and outstanding client service. Our clients expect and deserve only the highest standards of advice and service as we work with them to plan their finances so that they can achieve their goals in life. We’re proud to deliver a service which they value and which has now been externally recognised too. As one of only two firms in Northern Ireland to receive the IFP stamp of approval, this sets us apart as experts.

“We currently represent clients at the helm of their own businesses including those in the IT, law, public relations, architectural and engineering professions across Northern Ireland. As a company we primarily work with owners of local small to medium sized businesses helping them to clarify their goals in life and the financial requirements of meeting those goals. We then provide insight into the most appropriate methods to use to achieve those goals. Lumen provides a proactive ongoing service to clients to help them remain in control of their financial future and to help them pass on their assets to their loved ones.”

To successfully meet the criteria for approval, Lumen had to demonstrate that it provides a comprehensive financial planning service for clients as well as having a clear cost or fee structure. The firm also had to demonstrate commitment to the IFP’s Code of Ethics and Practice Standards as well as having appropriately trained and qualified staff. All client-facing advisers must have been tested on their financial planning skills at an advanced level, and at least 50% of registered advisers must be qualified as a certified financial planner professional, or equivalent. Very few financial planning firms in the UK meet these exacting standards.

When looking for professional Financial Planning firms in the UK, consumers should look for Accredited Financial Planning Firms as the hallmark of quality, and to find the services of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERCM professionals, the only globally recognised standard of professionalism for Financial Planners. When seeking objective, expert and trusted Financial Planning advice, consumers should always look for the CFP mark.
