Northern Ireland’s first ‘Lifestyle Care Home’, Milesian Manor, has exceeded all expectations and reached 100 per cent occupancy, in just five months since opening earlier this year.
Located in Magherafelt, the new-concept award winning care home is a first-of-its-kind in Northern Ireland and provides older people with a lifestyle-inspired home in which to fully enjoy their formative years. The home focuses on providing residents with a complete lifestyle experience and offers residents and day visitors a full programme of events delivered in a collection of specially created spaces, by an expert team of nurses and support staff. The aim is to reflect the activities they may have enjoyed throughout their lives, from dancing and singing to yoga and mindfulness, residents are encouraged to lead independent lives full of enjoyment.
Cara Macklin, Director at Milesian Manor is delighted with the swift progression to full occupancy; “Reaching this milestone in less than six months of opening is a wonderful achievement and endorsement to our vision. I’m extremely proud of our team who are undoubtedly the backbone of Milesian Manor.
“Our residents are very happy and it’s a joy to see their smiles and hear their laughter as they interact with the staff and visitors.
“At Milesian Manor we set out to create an exceptional home filled with happiness and our staff work incredibly hard to ensure that our residents needs are not only met but exceeded. I think its success is reflected in reaching full occupancy at this early stage.”
The expert care on offer ranges from residential, respite, nursing and dementia care along with the Milesian Day Club which offers an escape a relaxing support for residents and their families who need more interaction but are still able to live at home. There are over 50 dedicated staff ranging from specialised nurses to fully-trained carers, activity staff, and a dedicated lifestyle team along with in-house cooks creating wonderful fresh home-cooked food on a daily basis and housekeeping staff to ensure that standards are kept consistently high.
Cara concluded: “The provision of first-class care is the cornerstone of our ethos and our focus is on not only meeting all nursing, health care and industry requirements but providing a modern, yet homely environment filled with a full schedule of activities which will help people who can’t or no longer wish to live alone fully enjoy their later years.
“When creating the concept of Milesian Manor, we took on board international best-practice principles from homes in Asia, Australia and the UK and sought to create the next generation of care-homes in the heart of Ulster.
“We are now operating a waiting list for people who wish to reside with us and their families who want to have peace of mind that their loved ones are enjoying their lives at Milesian while getting their nursing and or dementia needs met.”
Owned and operated by the multi–award winning, Macklin Group, who have been successfully operating care homes in Northern Ireland for the last 32 years, Milesian Manor also boasts a bar, beauty and hair salon, spa bathroom, café and even a cinema, and a wellness garden with the aim of giving people in their formative years and exceptional quality of life combined with first-class care.
Cara concluded: “In Northern Ireland, there is increased demand for exceptional nursing homes and this will only increase as our population ages, at Milesian Manor we hope to be ahead of the game and offer tomorrow’s nursing home today.”
